Since relocating to our new farm at Stannum, on the Northern Tablelands, we have been extremely busy with building and fencing. It is finally all coming together and our paddocks are very serviceable with connecting lanes making the various aspects of alpaca work manageable. Our next task is to build a cedar barn for the animals which is getting underway.

We have had a delightful summer with 29 degrees as our highest temp. However, we are now preparing for a cold winter. Our pacas are thriving and seem to love their new home.

Our first embryo transfer crias for this year have arrived with the highlight being three lovely little girls from Windsong Valley Rose Gold/Andean Park Ringmaster (see photo). We are having a further drop in August. We are now in preparation for our first Stannum ET program to be carried out in May.

EXCITING RESULTS FROM OUR ET BREEDING PROGRAMS

The combination of Windsong Valley Highland Rose and Andean Park Ringmaster embryos from ET have produced a very positive result.
To date four female and two male progeny have been born, all of a very high standard.
Leranda Ridge Roseabelle ET, has in her short show life already won a Champion ribbon.
Her full sister, Leranda Ridge Rosebud ET, has just been awarded a first place at the 2007 National Show and been sold at the National Auction for export to UK.  We have also had a very good result from Leranda Ridge Little Summer and Andean Park Ringmaster who together have produced Leranda Ridge Phoenix ET, twice a first place and Reserve Champion winner.
We currently have 9 embryos implanted for our 2008 drop.

OUR GENETIC BASE

At Leranda Ridge we have high quality breeding stock available to maximise the return on your investment.  Since making the decision to breed only huacayas in mid 2002, we have made informed and wise choices which have led to our progress and successful breeding.

Our decision to use the Purrumbete Highlander genetic line has impacted on the quality and type of progeny bred on our farm more than any other.  This male genetic has given us positive results when applied to any number of female lines.

We were so happy with the results that we decided to purchase a top quality female from the same line and build on our investment by implementing some distant line breeding and embark on our first Embryo Transfer program.

EMBRYO TRANSFER DECISIONS

Our careful 'match making' process of pairing particular males and females together and harvesting multiple embryos, is effectively multiplying our top genetics at a rapid rate.  We have discovered through ET the females in our program that produce consistently in terms of required qualities and the females that fall outside this criteria.

The results have been very pleasing.  We now have a definite focus and direction to guide and shape our business into the future.

Visitors to our property are amazed at the similarities of progeny from the same dam and sire.
